Atlanta a Week Away from Music Midtown

If it's been said once, it's been said, well, once—West Cobb is lacking a music scene. A sigh of relief: We're next door to Georgia's musical epicenter.

When fees are added in, $118 and some change is all that's needed to see 15 big-name music acts when they visit Atlanta next weekend.

The headliners of this year's Music Midtown festival are the Foo Fighters and Pearl Jam, who will be playing Friday and Saturday nights, respectively. Also in the Friday lineup are Van Hunt, TI, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, and the Avett Brothers. The other Saturday performers are Ludacris, Girl Talk, Florence and the Machine, Civil Twilight, LP, O’Brother, Garbage, Adam Ant, and Neon Trees.

“One of the best things about Atlanta is its thriving arts and culture community,” Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed said in a news release. “This is a city that is deeply tied to the music, film and entertainment industry.

"The Music Midtown concert series, which returned to Atlanta last September, is a world‐class event which attracts thousands of music lovers to the heart of the city for unparalleled live music, food, energy and excitement.”

Perhaps the most well-known music event in metro Atlanta, Music Midtown  with Coldplay and the Black Keys last year after its original 11-year run ended in 2005. This year its been expanded to two days.

You can buy a one-day ticket for $70 or two-day ticket for $118.20. For $250, you get bumped up to VIP status, which comes with admission, private entrance, hospitality area with food and drinks, and air-conditioned rooms. Those able to hand over $1,000 get all that, plus a T-shirt, valet parking, backstage viewing of both stages, and a VIP laminate.
