Did You Know There Is a Downtown Powder Springs?
Oddly enough, we are constantly having to make residents of our town and neighboring cities aware of what seems so obvious to those of us who have businesses here.
Oddly enough, we are constantly having to make residents of our town and neighboring cities aware of what seems so obvious to those of us who have businesses here.
On a regular basis, customers come in and ask if we just opened or moved from another location, or they're just plain surprised we are located downtown.
If they do know there is a downtown, it's most likely because they had to pay their water bill or a speeding ticket, or maybe most recently, the reason is they were lost. How many of you reading this have found us on purpose?

We see 40,000 cars pass by us each day, but because we are all so busy in our lives, it is hard to stop. I know I am guilty as charged on that one.
There are two restaurants that I passed at least 10 times, each time saying: "I really need to try that place." And once I finally stopped, I found they were already closed for business.

I feel terrible when any business goes under and now try a bit harder to patronage any new business that I can. Of course, once tried, it is up to them to keep me as a customer, and that doesn't always happen. Bad food, bad customer service and lack of new products can keep customers away.
But more often than not, businesses close because we have to pay the rent or mortgage, utilities, insurance, and all types of business fees on a pretty regular basis—all no matter how many customers came into our businesses.
Wow, now that was a mouthful!
On a very positive note, your downtown Powder Town businesses are open and awaiting your visit. Here at the , we are having the great author Haywood Smith (The Red Hat Club and many other titles) sign at our store on Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. We should have most of her titles available for purchase, but feel free to bring your copies in to have them signed when you meet her.
Constant business at both and is keeping all their merchandise fresh as a daisy. Of course, daisies are most likely one of the flowers you can get at the , among other beautiful flowers and plants.
Joan at asked I mention that while the tea room is open, a few changes are being made at the newest place in town, the for just a few days.
The coffee shop should be back up and running at the beginning of the week and even better than ever. (Is that even possible?)
