Moms Are More Than Special
We celebrate all types of holidays year after year; however, my favorite is Mother's Day.

Where would we be without our moms? Being a mom of five, there have been days that I have pulled out a handful of hair, ate more from frustration, didn't eat because of worry. But, you know what, I wouldn't change it for the world. I love being a mom and those things are just part of the job.
My mom has since passed and I know that myself and my sisters put her through all of that and more. Even through those times, I know without a doubt, that my mom had more good times with us girls than bad - it just doesn't seem like it at the time.

My mom would do more for us than she did for herself. The number of sleepovers with chatty little girls, birthday parties, forgetting school work or lunches and stopping her day just to run up to the school so we wouldn't get in trouble or "starve." Or, going out late at night to get supplies for a school project due the next day that we knew about days or weeks in advance.
She was even a regular chaperone on all our class trips. Teachers didn't even ask after awhile; she was just automatically listed as a permanent chaperone.

Our mom always planned the vacations. Back then, we didn't have seat belt laws like we do today and when I think back then, I wonder how we survived.
We use to take vacations from Boston, MA to Florida in our blue Mercury sedan. It would take us three days down and three days back.
Mom always said there was no need to rush - it was vacation. There was my mom, dad, and my two older sisters. Instead of us girls just sitting in the back seat properly, my mom had my dad design a piece of plywood that fit the entire back seat and topped it with padding and tons of pillows so we could "lounge" the entire way and if we got sleepy, we just fell asleep.
I truly think she did it this way so we were not leaning on each other - leaning on each other meant fights. I thank God we never had an accident. When we would stop along the way at night, mom would always make sure the hotels had a nice pool that we could enjoy. We lived in an apartment in Massachusetts so a pool was just as exciting as the ocean.
When we stopped at a restaurant, it had to have a self-serve soda machine. Soda was not an everyday drink for us and to have a self-serve machine was so worth the traveling. It is little events like those that you just can't forget.
Moms are more than special, I think they are amazing. I pray every day that I am in someway impacting my children with more good than bad and that the bad times will make them realize there was a reason why I said "NO."
No matter how mad you get at mom, put it behind you and love her everyday. Moms were created to challenge you, argue with, share with, cry with, laugh with, and the list goes on. Once mom is gone, so is a little part of you. My mom has been gone for many years now and she is with me more and more as I get older.
Happy Mother's Day and LOVE to all the moms!
