Summer and Our Animals

I am an animal lover and have the need to ask all to be extra careful with our furry friends. I was in the parking lot of Best Buy/PetSmart with my children; we looked over at the car parked next to us and there was a dog inside. This car had all the windows, except for one, completely shut. The one window that was suppose to be open would not even allow my finger to go through. I wouldn't have even called it open a "crack." We looked at the temperature in my car and it was reading 103 when we got in and we were only in PetSmart for about 10 minutes. We looked at this dog, panting, drooling, and continuously lying down.

There is no excuse for this. I love having my dogs in the car with me; however, I do not bring them when I know I am going to be shopping - especially at this time of the year. We contacted the authorities along with an employee from Best Buy. They where dispatching a patrolman; however, the owner of the vehicle came and left before they arrived. He showed no remorse at all. He totally ignored the dog when he got in the vehicle.

Please think twice before having your animals ride with you. It does not take long for the car to double in temperature while sitting in the sun.
