Boy Scout Files Reveal Possible Sexual Abuse
There are 24 cases of possible sexual abuse in 14 of San Francisco's East Bay communities by Boy Scout troop leaders and volunteers listed in the organization's sexual abuse files released Thursday to the public.
For decades, the Boy Scouts of America kept the files as a way to keep volunteers suspected of inappopriate sexual behavior away from children. The cases were not shared with parents or police.
The files became public Thursday as part of an $18.5 million settlement between the Boy Scouts and a victim. Read more...

Car-Size Meteor Flies over California
A large meteor streaked across the night sky Thursday and was seen and heard throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
Sky observers reported they had seen a bright fireball with hues of red and orange break up overhead shortly before 8 p.m., accompanied by a loud boom.

Police Seize Thousands of Oxycodone Pills
Authorities arrested six men Friday morning in Massachusetts' North Shore area in several drug raids.
Warrants were executed at 10 different locations in Lynn, Peabody, Salem and Danvers, and police seized thousands of oxycodone pills along with more than $50,000 in cash and a gun. Read more...
