Cobb 4-H "Labor of Love" Diaper Drive Benefits Mothers Making a Change
Local 4-H Club donates diapers and wipes to Mothers Making a Change in Marietta.
Cobb 4-H Club is thankful for the generosity of Cobb County employees, 4-H families, and our Cobb County community! Mothers Making a Change of Marietta received donations of about 100 packages of diapers and wipes from a community service project sponsored by the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension in Cobb County, 4-H Youth Development Program. Women who are pregnant or have children and are recovering from substance abuse are assisted by Mothers Making a Change with many services which include individual and group therapy, a GED program, family education, and therapeutic childcare. Cobb 4-H collected supplies for childcare to help support mothers in recovery. The diaper drive began during the week of Labor Day with collection sites at Marietta Square, the Cobb County Board of Commissioners Board Room, and the Cooperative Extension Office on South Cobb Drive. 4-H youth helped donate, collect, sort, and transport the diapers and wipes.
Participants of Mothers Making a Change are woven into the fold of the UGA Cooperative Extension in Cobb County through the EFNEP (Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program) nutrition classes, the garden at Reconnecting Our Roots Community Garden on Lemon Street which is managed by the Master Gardeners Volunteers of Cobb County, healthy cooking classes with Family & Consumer Sciences, and community service projects with 4-H Youth.
