COBB ALCOHOL TASKFORCE AWARDED ENFORCING UNDERAGE DRINKING LAWS (EUDL) GRANT

The Cobb Alcohol Taskforce has been awarded a grant through the Georgia Governor’s Office for Children and Families’ (GOCF) Enforcement of Underage Drinking Laws (EUDL) Grant Program.

The EUDL grant will allow the taskforce to generate a series of educational videos. These videos will reflect the input of local law enforcement leaders and complement the efforts of officers to gather data that helps to impose penalties successfully against retail establishments and individuals who provide alcohol to underage drinkers.

The grant will also support the combined efforts of the Taskforce and Cobb County School District (CCSD) to expand the implementation of Sources of Strength, a program that enhances effective substance abuse prevention strategies by using youth as peer leaders.

“This grant gives us the opportunity to produce measurable outcomes in reducing underage and youth binge drinking,” said Peter Armstrong, executive director for Cobb Alcohol Taskforce. “One of our most important goals is to support law enforcement partners by offering a tool that illustrates best practices for collecting the information that can lead to those outcomes.”

Cobb Alcohol Taskforce will work with local officials and law enforcement to produce the series of videos intended for both private and, as necessary, public use.
