The tallied 432 yards of total offense Friday night to beat Beach, 49-12, and advanced into the second round of the GHSA Class AAAAA State Football Championships.
The Hawks started "a little slow" according to head coach Phillip Ironside speaking to the Marietta Daily Journal. Beach opened play with a scoring drive to jump out on top of the Hawks.
But Hillgrove scored the next 49 points of the game to erase any doubt that the Hawks are one of the state's top scoring teams.
Hillgrove quarterback Elijah Ironside threw for 141 yards and three touchdowns while running back Kenyan Drake added 86 yards rushing and 53 receiving.
Hillgrove remained perfect on the seaosn and next week hosts West Forsyth, Region 6-AAAAA's No. 2 seed.
