Man Attempts to Cash Fake Check from Wells Fargo

Along with forgery, King Mitchell was also charged with assault for allegedly grabbing a teller by the wrist.

King Mitchell, a 34-year-old Atlanta man, was charged with forgery and assault on Sept. 28 after he allegedly tried to cash a fake check at Wells Fargo and grabbed a teller by the wrist.

Mitchell entered the bank at 1102 Sailors Parkway that afternoon and attempted to cash a check from “Novem Car Interior Design Inc." for $1,141.24, according to a report.

The teller asked for an assistant manager’s approval because "she was not comfortable with the check,” the report says.

"When she delayed payment, the accused became angry," it says.

Mitchell walked to , leaving his Georgia ID, Social Security card, and the check.

The teller left from behind the counter to make copies, and Mitchell reentered the bank and demanded the check back from her.

He then "grabbed the teller by the wrist and forced the check from her hand,” the report says.

Mitchell fled the bank and was met by an officer outside. Police requested surveillance video from the bank and were given three still photos, the report says.

Cobb County inmate records show Mitchell hadn’t bailed out as of Sunday.
