McEachern Robotics Lends Hand to Must Ministries

Dec. 15,^, the McEachern Robotics Team gave back to the community by helping out at Must Ministries Donation Center. Must Ministries furnishes food, clothing and basic living essentials to people that need them.

The McEachern Robotics Team was astounded by what they saw. Vivian Evans, a member, said, “It’s like the Kennesaw Mountain made out of clothes!” There were piles and piles of clothing everywhere.

Wendy Booth, the director, took us through instructions and safety procedures. Once they got inside the actual warehouse, she showed us how to get things done. She made sure we had on our gloves, and then we got busy. The Robotics Team separated through mounds of clothing. There were certain items they were looking for—for example, men’s clothes, winter garments, and anything left in its original packing. The items they did not need were placed in a bin and sent to other Must Ministries locations.

This wasn’t just an “all work no play event”—the Robotics Team enjoyed every bit of it. They laughed and joked as they got the work done. Kaytlan Anderson, another robotics member, said that, “It felt pretty good at this time of year!” She was glad to get a chance to help people in need.

Dec. 15 was a fantastic day for the McEachern Robotics Team. We plan on working with Must Ministries again soon. After the Georgia Tech Kickoff in January, the Robotics Team is hard at work planning and discussing how to tackle this year’s competition. Ultimate Ascent will have the team working hard constructing a robot that can shoot Frisbees into designated targets. The team will be attending the FRC Scrimmage on Feb. 16. So stay tuned!
