Powder Springs Memorial Day Ceremony

American
Legion Post 294 of Powder Springs, GA will conduct its annual Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 26, 2014 at 12
Noon.  The location will be the Powder Springs
Veterans Memorial at 4181 Atlanta Street in front of the Powder Springs
Library.  In case of inclement
weather, the ceremony will be held indoors at the Community Room of the
Coach George Ford Center behind the library building.

The program will
feature: the presentation of Colors by BSA Troop 1294; keynote speaker, John W.
Phillips, US Army Retired and author of Boots to Loafers, Finding Your New
True North
; comments by Mayor Patricia Vaughn; the laying of a wreath in
honor of fallen comrades; patriotic music; and a rendering of Taps to conclude
the ceremony.

The Powder Springs
Veterans Memorial was dedicated on Veterans Day 2001.
The monument was built using public and private
funds following a successful drive to bring to fruition the ideas of a few American
Legion members who were gathered one day at the Post home.  The City
of Powder Springs and Post 294 jointly care
for the monument and the surrounding grounds.
