Powerball Jackpot Reaches $425 Million

While no one won the jackpot in Saturday's Powerball drawing, a ticket worth $10,000 was purchased in Marietta.

The jackpot for Wednesday’s Powerball drawing has grown to $425 million, the third largest jackpot in the game's history.

"Brisk sales have pushed the Powerball jackpot to $425 million, up from $400 million, for Wednesday’s drawing," Georgia Lottery spokeswoman Kimberly M. Starks said in a statement.

While no one won Saturday's Powerball drawing, a ticket worth $10,000 was purchased in Marietta. Another ticket worth $1 million was purchased in Douglasville. That ticket matched the first five winning numbers from the Aug. 3 drawing.

Winning numbers from the Aug. 3 Powerball drawing were 21-24-36-42-45 and the Powerball was 15.

Powerball offers two jackpot payment options: 30 graduated payments over 29 years or the $244 million cash option.

Powerball tickets are $2 per play.
