Staple Powder Springs Restaurant Closes Doors
Following the end of Bailey's Diner, Zack and Theresa Taoushiani are focusing on their new venture, Off the Bone BBQ.
The owners of say they've closed the restaurant to focus on their new venture, .
Zack and Theresa Taoushiani next to the Brownsville Road in April and closed the doors to Bailey’s on May 8. For nine years, the Taoushianis ran Bailey’s, which was previously operated by Theresa's brother.
The City Council held its event on the second Saturday of every month at Bailey's. Mayor Pat Vaughn said this Saturday's breakfast has been canceled and will resume next month at a new location.

Bailey’s was a familiar locale among community members, and Off the Bone will continue offering the Taoushianis' well-known breakfasts while introducing new options in a family-friendly atmosphere where everyone is known by name.
“We know them all so well,” Theresa said. “We’re so close.”

The couple said they will keep their patrons well fed with the restaurant’s clay oven-cooked selection of tenderized barbecue meats covered with a made-from-scratch spicy barbecue sauce.
Powder Springs resident Sam Fainn, who was dining at the restaurant Thursday afternoon, was a Bailey’s regular and followed the couple to their new location.
“The food is good,” he said. “The barbecue is nontraditional taste-wise. It’s a lot spicier than traditional barbecue, but it’s definitely good.”
While several barbecue enthusiasts relish cooking meats on the grill or in the oven, the Taoushianis—who moved to Georgia from South Africa and are originally from Greece—cook their meat in a clay oven, an hours-long process.
“The meat is so soft, like butter,” Zach said. “We’re the best in softness. That’s my specialty.”
Beginning anew with Off the Bone has kept the couple busy, and they're grateful that the loyal patrons of Bailey’s have accepted the move.
“All of the Bailey’s customers know us. They’ve adopted us,” Theresa said. “We’re turning another page and focusing on this.”
