Superintendent Finalist To Be Named Tonight

The Cobb County Board of Education is set to have its regular board meeting at 7 p.m. at 514 Glover Street in Marietta.

The Cobb County Board of Education plans to announce its sole finalist for superintendent at its regular monthly meeting tonight.

The  made that announcement this afternoon, a few hours before the board will meet in an executive session at 5:30 p.m. to discuss the superintendent search and perhaps other personnel matters. The regular meeting starts at 7 at the Central Office at 514 Glover St. in Marietta.

The Dallas Morning News reports that Cobb's choice to succeed Fred Sanderson is Michael Hinojosa, the superintendent of the Dallas Independent School District.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution also reports that Hinojosa is the choice, citing unnamed sources.

The result of the search to replace Sanderson, who is retiring at the end of June, comes the same night as the school board could decide to balance the fiscal 2012 budget.
