Update: Pair Charged in May Death

Jennifer Weathington of Powder Springs and Elgerie Cash of Stockbridge were arrested Monday in the shooting death of Lennis Donovan "Donny" Jones during the Memorial Day weekend.

Two women were arrested by Paulding authorities Monday in the May death of Marietta resident Lennis Donovan “Donny” Jones.

Elgerie Mary Cash, a 45-year-old from Stockbridge, and her daughter, 20-year-old Jennifer M. Weathington of Powder Springs, are each charged with felony murder.

Jones, 44, died from a gunshot wound in the Twelve Oaks subdivision off Fernwick Court in Dallas over the Memorial Day weekend, according to  spokesman Ashley Henson.

Jones' obituary, as posted by the , lists him as 42-year-old father of five. The obituary lists May 30 as his date of death.

Henson said the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation have been working closely to determine the circumstances behind Jones’ death. He added that authorities only recently were able to secure murder warrants for the two women, who knew Jones.

“We waited on autopsy results (and) consulted with the medical examiner," Henson said. "There were some inconsistencies with evidence at the scene and evidence with the individual that was murdered."

Henson said the case has remained open since it began.

“They didn’t want to rule out any potential possibilities, whether it be suicide, murder or accidental or whatever,” he added.

Henson said others may be charged in the case as the investigation continues.

Paulding County authorities arrested two women Monday on charges of felony murder.

According to Paulding County jail records, 20-year-old Jennifer M. Weathington of Saddle Ridge Road in Powder Springs was booked at 5 p.m. Monday.

Nearly two and a half hours later, deputies had booked 45-year-old Elgerie Mary Cash of Watercrest Court in Stockbridge.

Weathington’s Facebook page, retrieved Tueday morning, seemed to indicate that she and Cash are mother and daughter.

Though booked hours apart, the two were arrested by the same deputy, according to jail records. The records also show that the two have no prior arrests.

Patch will be contacting authorities throughout the day to determine the circumstances behind the arrests.
