Windows XP End of Life is only 4 months away! What does that mean for those still running it on their computers?

Microsoft will be ending support for those computers running the Windows XP operating system on April 8th 2014.
OK so you have not had to call them for support any way so why would that matter to you?
We’ll the biggest reason is that after that date no new updates will be sent out for that product. You have seen the little pop ups that tell you from time to time that updates are ready for you to install, well there will be no more of that.

Well I didn’t like that anyway.
None of use “liked” having to stop and install these updates really but the fact is it did serve a purpose. When software companies release a product it can and most times does have vulnerabilities in it that can allow hackers, malware and such to gain access to the information on our computers and even take them over to cause the need for expensive repairs.

Even though Windows XP has been out for many years it does still have vulnerabilities! You can bet that these hackers are already aware of these holes in the Operating System and will begin to utilize these right after the April 8th 2014 deadline.
New software will also begin to drop support for Windows XP.
Another consideration is that other software makers will begin designing there software that will not run on XP. Actually I have already seen this will security software refusing to install on XP based machines. A few weeks ago I tried to install the software from a popular shipping company on a XP computers and it would not install stating that they no longer support that Operating System.
So now I have to go buy a new computer?
That is not necessarily so, many system can be upgraded to Windows 7 or Windows 8 for a fraction of the cost of a new computer. Get with your local computer service company to get an estimate on this upgrade.
