Woman Shoves Laundry Attendant, Charged with Battery

The dispute involved Kimberly Dumas's mother wanting her money back.

Kimberly Dumas, a 43-year-old Powder Springs woman, was charged with simple battery after allegedly shoving an employee of against a wall.

Police were dispatched to the business on Sept. 16 in reference to a dispute, according to a report. The on-duty attendant said Dumas and her mother came in to wash clothes.

The mother put her clothes in a machine that wasn’t working, the attendant told police. She said she asked the mother to put her clothes in another machine while she went to get more quarters.

But when the attendant came back, she said the mother had moved her clothes and had already paid except for 25 cents. The mother told the attendant that she didn’t know she was coming back.

The mother said she wanted her money back, and the attendant told her she couldn’t do that, the report says. A verbal argument began, and when it couldn’t be resolved, the attendant began to walk away.

The attendant said Dumas then grabbed her by the arm and shirt and pushed her against the wall, causing her to fall to the ground. Witnesses separated the two.

Dumas told police that the attendant hit her mother first, but surveillance video only showed Dumas shoving the attendant.

Dumas bailed out of the Cobb County jail that night.
