Nominations Sought For School Garden Of The Year Award

WOODSTOCK, GA — Organizers are now accepting nominations for the second annual Cherokee County School Garden of the Year contest.

Applications will be accepted through Monday, Sept. 24 for the contest, which is organized by the Cherokee Farm To School organization.

Eligibility to enter includes any Cherokee County public or private pre-K-12 school or childcare center. Applicants must have had a school garden open during the 2017-18 school year, and be able to provide documentation through photos of its uses and existence.

The winning garden will be announced Friday, Oct. 5 and once the honoree has been selected, the Cherokee County Farm to School Committee will arrange to tour the garden in recognition of Farm to School month and as part of its monthly meetings.
