35K+ Pounds Of Recyclable Materials Collected During Event

The Cherokee County Recycling Center's electronics recycling event collected more than 35,000 pounds of recyclable material.

CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA — Residents were eager to offload their old electronics at the Cherokee County Recycling Center’s electronics recycling event.

“We are very pleased with the community response,” said Cherokee County Community Services Agency Director Bryan Reynolds. “We were able to collect 35,125 pounds of recyclable material at this event.”

The electronics recycling event, hosted in partnership with Premier Surplus, was held Dec. 4 at the Cherokee County Administration Building in Canton. Roughly 237 cars were seen at the four-hour drive-through event.

Event staff, which included county employees, community service workers and volunteers from the Keep Cherokee Beautiful program, were able to fill several box trucks with recycled items ranging from personal computers to large tube televisions.

“I want to thank all of the volunteers for their hard work in making this event successful and also thank Premier Surplus for their continued support,” said Cherokee County District 3 Commissioner Benny Carter. “We hope to continue to offer these events in the future.”
