Woodstock 4th of July Celebration Kicks Off Monday

The city's annual event will include a parade and fireworks show.

WOODSTOCK, GA -- The popular July 4th Spectacular will return to downtown Woodstock on Monday.

The city's annual festivities will kick off at 10 a.m. July 4 with its popular parade, which will travel down Rope Mill Road from Woodstock Elementary School towards Main Street and end at Sam's Club on Highway 92.

The city will announce winners for Best Holiday, Most Original and People's Choice awards.

With the parade comes the road closures needed for the festivities. Main Street and Rope Mill Road will be closed from 7 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. for the annual Woodstock Freedom Run and from 9:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for the parade.

You can also expect roadblocks on Main Street at Sam's Club (north of Highway 92), Serenade Drive, Bowles Drive, Ingram Street, Barnesdale Terrace, Dupree Road, Fowler Street, Oak Street, Elm Street, Mill Street and Dobbs Road; Arnold Mill Road at Hubbard Road, East Main Street and Main Street; Rope Mill Road at Woodstock Elementary School, Kyle Street and Rusk Street; and Towne Lake Parkway at Woodstock Parkway and Main Street.

Following the parade, you would be hard pressed to miss the annual FreedomFest at the Park at City Center, which runs from 11 a.m to 3 p.m. Residents can expect to enjoy music, food, arts, crafts, children's activities and more.

Last but certainly not least will be the annual fireworks show behind the Woodstock Square shopping center, the home of Target, on Highway 92 west of Interstate 575.

The fireworks show will begin at dusk. There will be message boards directing motorists in and out the shopping center.
