4th of July: Woodstock Road Closures, Traffic Control Plan
The city's annual July 4th Spectacular includes FreedomFest at the Park at City Center and a fireworks show.

WOODSTOCK, GA -- The city of Woodstock is gearing up for thousands of people to descend into downtown for its annual festivities commemorating the 4th of July.
The Freedom Run, FreedomFest and the fireworks show are all set for Monday, and the Woodstock Police Department will roll out several road closures and a traffic plan in preparation for the busy day.
Here is what you need to know if you live around or are planning to venture to downtown Woodstock on Independence Day:

From 7 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.
- Main Street/Rope Mill Road will be closed from Serenade Lane to Woodstock Elementary School for the Freedom Run race that begins at 7:30 a.m. The road race will end in the area of Pure Taqueria during which time East Main Street at Hubbard Road, East Main Street at Wheeler Street and East Main Street at Fowler Street will be closed.
At approximately 8:45 a.m.

- Main Street/Rope Mill Road from Serenade Lane to Woodstock Elementary School will reopen briefly prior to the start of the parade.
At 9:45 a.m.
- Main Street/Rope Mill Road up to Serenade Lane will close once again for the parade scheduled to start at 10 a.m. and is scheduled to reopen at approximately 11:30 a.m.
Other road closures scheduled during the downtown events include: Main Street at Serenade Drive, Bowles Drive, Ingram Street, Barnesdale Terrace, Dupree Road, Fowler Street, Oak Street, Elm Street, Mill Street and Dobbs Road; Arnold Mill Road at Hubbard Road, East Main Street and Main Street; Rope Mill Road at Woodstock Elementary School, Kyle Street and Rusk Street; and Towne Lake Parkway at Woodstock Parkway and Main Street.
Following FreedomFest, which runs immediately following the parade to 3 p.m., Woodstock will host its annual fireworks display in the area of Woodstock Square Avenue. The police department anticipates a high volume of vehicular traffic on the roadways associated with this event.
At the conclusion of the display, the Police Department will direct motorists to comply with the following:
- All traffic parked south of Highway 92 (including Super Target, BJ’s Wholesale Club, Lowe’s, Molly Lane and Woodstock Square Avenue) will be directed to turn right onto Highway 92 and travel east.
- All traffic parked north of Highway 92 (including The Home Depot, Big Lots, Hennessy Honda, and IHOP) will be directed to turn right onto Highway 92 and travel west.
- No left turns or U-turns will be permitted on Highway 92 during or after the scheduled event until the streets and parking lots are clear.
Signboards will also be present at exits to help motorists with direction of travel.
Woodstock police is asking motorists to pack their patients, drive with caution, be aware of pedestrians, comply with uniformed officers directing traffic and to allow for extra travel time to and from to events.
And, of course, remember to lock your vehicles and to remove all valuables from view.
