Attorney To Run For Cherokee County Solicitor General
Sarah Hobson has launched her bid to succeed Jessica K. Moss, who will not seek re-election in 2018.

WOODSTOCK, GA -- Woodstock attorney Sarah Hobson has announced her plans to run in the 2018 election to become Cherokee County's next solicitor general. Hobson said she will qualify as a Republican to run in the primary election slated for May.
The office of solicitor general in Cherokee County, she said, is not one that should have a mission to "convict" people or to win every case that comes across that elected official's desk.
“Our job as prosecutors is to preserve justice for Cherokee County citizens and taxpayers," Hobson said. "Our responsibilities are pretty clear in the United States and Georgia Constitutions and I take those responsibilities very seriously.”

The seat is held by incumbent Jessica Moss, who announced in August that she will not seek re-election to the post.
Hobson was raised in Bonita Springs, Florida, by her mother. As a police officer, Hobson's mother taught her from an early age the important role that law enforcement plays in protecting citizens (SIGN UP: Get Patch's Daily Newsletter and Real Time News Alerts. “I remember my mom working at the 911 dispatch to earn extra money," the candidate added. "Sometimes I would have to go with her because she couldn’t find a babysitter. I just vividly remember her answering those calls and immediately trying to get people help.”
Hobson would later go on to attend Stony Brook School in New York thanks to a "prosperous" family in Bonita Springs who provided a scholarship for her education. Hobson attended Florida Gulf Coast University and received a bachelor's degree in legal studies. She then followed in the footsteps of a mentor by becoming an attorney.
Hobson attended Stetson College of Law where she met her husband, Christopher. They married their final year of law school and graduated together in 2010 before moving to Georgia and beginning their practice of law.
“I remember to this day the motto of Stony Brook is 'Character Before Career'," she said. "That motto drives the way I serve my clients, they way I pursued cases when I worked as a prosecutor, and it is certainly the thing I remember with my children and my husband. That set of values should be at the core of every public servant, and I can promise every Cherokee County resident I will make it a centerpiece of the Solicitor General’s office when I’m elected.”
The candidate began her career as an assistant solicitor general. In 2012, she and her husband launched their own firm to practice criminal defense and family law. They recently merged with a larger firm and are now partners in Smith, Schnatmeier, Dettmering, Reeves, Hobson & Hobson, LLP where she practices law with a former district attorney, Bar Association president, municipal court judge and state representative.
“I look forward to the vigorous campaign to come and connecting with Cherokee residents across this county about what their Solicitor General can do to serve them better," Hobson added.
