Termite Treatments Continued
Termite treatments continued. What is a defined termite treatment? Which is the most popular termiticide being used for this treatment?
It has been a very busy pest season so far. I will continue discussing termite treatments. My last blog, I talked about the comprehensive termite treatment which I consider to be prehistoric. The next treatment I will discuss is the defined termite treatment.
As I mentioned, technology in the termiticides have allowed termite companies to be less destructive when treating for termites. A defined liquid termite treatment, using an approved termiticide, requires you to trench and treat the foundation, drill and treat all slabs touching the house, drill and treat the front stoop on basement home and treat around the piers in a crawl space. This treatment can be completed in hours versus a day or two.
I have included pictures of a slab home that was recently treated. The foundation was trenched, creating a depth of six inches and a width of six inches. The patio slab and slab at the front door were drilled; each hole is 1/2 inch and no more than 12 inches apart. Finally, the driveway, where the house sits on the crack created when the garage slab meets the driveway slab, is drilled.

After trenching, you treat the trench and then the backfill. When the drilling is complete, you treat each drilled hole so the soil under the slab gets the termiticide. After treating the holes, you plug and patch them.
This treatment method, defined termite treatment, can only be performed when using an approved termiticide that is label for such a treatment. The most popular termiticide being used in the defined termite treatment is Termidor.
