CASA Cherokee Seeks Volunteers
Volunteers advocate for the safety and security of children in the foster care system.

CANTON, GA -- If you're looking for a way to improve the lives of children in the Cherokee County community, then the local Court Appointed Special Advocates organization could have something for you.
CASA Cherokee will begin hosting training sessions on Aug. 2 for residents interested in the program.
Two informational sessions are scheduled for 9 a.m. July 19 and 6 p.m. July 26 at The Children's Haven at 10893 Marietta Highway in Canton.

To be considered as a volunteer, citizens must complete an application and interview, pass a background check, take part in the pre-service training course and agree to stay with a case until it's closed (which takes, on average, about a year and a half).
The training will equip residents with the tools needed to advocate for a child's right to be safe, treated with dignity and "grow in the security of a loving family," the organization said.

CASA connects children in the foster care system with a qualified, compassionate adults, who monitor the child's safety and well-being. They also provide the child with individual attention and "help move that child out of foster care and into a safe, permanent home," CASA Cherokee added.
