Cat Rescued From Woodstock House Fire

Crews were able to put out the blaze before it caused any major damage to the home located on River Oaks Drive.

Woodstock and Cherokee County fire crews rescued a cat in a house fire reported Friday morning.

Firefighters from Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services and Woodstock Fire and Rescue responded to the fire around 11:15 a.m. Oct. 23 at a home on River Oaks Drive in unincorporated Woodstock.

River Oaks Drive sits off Barnes Road between Arnold Mill and Trickum roads.

Crews arrived on the scene and discovered fire and smoke coming from one of the back corners of the single-story home, Capt. T.C. Capps with Cherokee County fire said.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze before it caused any major damage. While no one was at home when the fire started, a cat was located inside the house and was taken to a local veterinarian for treatment.

Woodstock Fire Chief Dave Soumas said the cat was in stable condition when it was transported from the scene.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by Cherokee County.
