Charity Poker Tournament Benefits Woodstock PD Explorers
The event hosted by the Woodstock Public Safety Foundation will be held Aug. 25 at Buffalo's on Highway 92.

WOODSTOCK, GA — The Woodstock Public Safety Foundation will host its third annual Charity Poker Tournament later this month at Buffalo's. The event will kick off at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25 at the restaurant at 12035 Highway 92, and proceeds from the day will benefit the Woodstock Police Department Explorers Post.
The cost is a $50 buy-in per individual with re-buy opportunities available. Prizes will be awarded to first-, second- and third-place finishers. The first place prize is an oak poker table valued at $500. Buffalo’s will also offer drink and food specials to those participating in the charity poker tournament.

Formed in 2007, the Woodstock Police Department Explorer Post is a program for young men and women interested in learning about careers in law enforcement. Explorers are provided with educational training programs for young adults on the purposes, mission and objectives of the law enforcement profession. The program also provides career orientation experiences, leadership opportunities and community service activities.

All proceeds from the charity poker tournament will help the Explorer Post with buying uniforms, training and traveling to and from competitions. The WPD Explorer Post has brought home 3 first place finishes at competitions in the last two years.
