Chattahoochee Gold's Emma Cole is Carolina Bound

She's a state champion, Southern Zone Champion, National and Olympic Trial qualifier

Chattahoochee Gold Swim Club's Emma Cole has made a verbal commitment to swim for the University of North Carolina starting in the 2017-18 season.

Emma was a 2016 Olympic Trials qualifier in 100 & 200 Freestyle.

She also competed at the 2016 NCSA Spring Championships where she placed 6th in the 200 Fly, won the consolation final of the 100 Free and finished 12th in the 400 Free, 29th in the 50 Fly, 32nd in the 200 Free, and 40th in the 50 Free.

Swimming for Walton High School in East Cobb, Emma was runner-up in both the 100 and 200 Freestyle individual events at the 2016 GHSA 6A State Meet and anchored Walton’s winning 200 Free Relay and 400 Free Relay.

Gold Coach Pat Murphy says, "UNC is happy to land the top recruit in Georgia and one of the top in the nation as well. Emma is smart, talented, fun, and works hard. She's going to light it up in Chapel Hill. Her mother Melissa and her dad Cameron also swam at UNC, it's where they met."

Emma told swimswam.com, “I chose UNC because of the outstanding academics and opportunities they offer. I also loved the people and the team atmosphere was exactly what I was looking for. I am very excited to be a Tar Heel!"
