Between Saturday, Dec. 26 and Jan. 11, 2016, residents take part in the annual Christmas Chip n Dip at Olde Rope Mill Park.
The trees will be fed into a city chipper. Then, during the following week, you can return to the park with a shovel and dip into the chippings for free mulch. This initiative will be available daily from 8 a.m. to dusk.

A note for residents: please strip your tree of decorations, lights and stands before taking part in the program. Also, flocked trees are not allowed to be recycled, as they are poisonous to Little River and animals in the park.
The city will also take part in the statewide Bring One For The Chipper initiaitive. From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016, residents can drop off their Christmas trees, pick up some free tree seedlings and seeds (while supplies last) and enjoy coffee, hot chocolate and donuts.
This event will also be held at Olde Rope Mill Park.
Bring One For The Chipper involves hundreds of communities and thousands of volunteers across Georgia. Since its launch, the program has recycled about six million Christmas trees. The mulch from trees has been used for playgrounds, local government beautification projects and individual yards.
Olde Rope Mill Park is located at 690 Olde Rope Mill Park Road (formerly Rope Mill Road), north of Ridgewalk Parkway and the Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta.
