Copper Coin Coffee Gains New Owner

The downtown Woodstock coffee shop on Chambers Street will remain open for customers.

WOODSTOCK, GA -- One of downtown Woodstock's most popular ventures will remain open and doing business as usual thanks, in part, to the sell of the business to a new owner.

Randy Altmann of RMS-CC, LLC has signed a five-year lease valued at $600,000 to take over operations of Copper Coin Coffee at 400 Chambers Street. Altmann was represented by Singleton Real Estate, which said the shop will remain open in downtown and experience no interruption of service.

Larry Singleton, president & managing broker of Singleton Real Estate, represented the tenant while Ryan Denbow of JWB Realty Services represented the landlord.

"I look forward to becoming an active member of the downtown Woodstock business community, and building on the successes of Mike Gullicksen at Copper Coin Coffee," Altmann said.

Copper Coin Coffee was originally known as Woodstock Coffeehouse where it opened along Towne Lake Parkway in October 2010. In 2011, it moved to downtown Woodstock and opened in a partnership with Acru, a Woodstock-based financial planning firm. Copper Coin later expanded to Forsyth County and Brookhaven, but those two ventures have since closed. Gullicksen ran the venture with his two sons, David and Michael.

Gullicksen announced last month that he was putting his business up for sale due to the shop experiencing a rocky couple of years with its attempted expansion. That move, he added, placed a financial burden on the company's shoulders that it was unable to shake off.

In a message posted Oct. 29 on the coffee shop's Facebook page, Gullicksen said he will assist the new owners with the transition "in their journey to continue in the excellence that we have built and developed."

"As the anchor location in downtown Woodstock, we will ensure that Copper Coin continues to provide a great community space as it has for the last 6-and-a-half years," he added. "I want to thank all our loyal customers for being so supportive over the years and especially over the last few weeks. We were able to find someone that was interested in continuing with the great product, service and brand that we have worked so hard to develop. "

Singleton added he was "thrilled" to help in keeping Copper Coin open for its loyal customer base.

"This coffee shop is the heart of downtown Woodstock, and Randy Altmann will be a great addition to our community of entrepreneurs and business owners," he added.
