Etowah Senior Competes At Future Health Leaders Conference

Kaylie Cofield qualified by placing first with her classmates in the Outstanding HOSA Chapter competition at the state conference.

WOODSTOCK, GA — Etowah High School senior Kaylie Cofield traveled to Dallas, Texas, during the summer break to compete at HOSA Future Health Professionals’ 41st Annual International Leadership Conference, the Cherokee County School District said.

Kaylie qualified for the International competition by placing first with her classmates in the Outstanding HOSA Chapter competition at the State Leadership Conference, which was the first time a Cherokee County school advanced to this level.

The project, which Kaylie, as historian, submitted at the state event went on to win a Recognition Award at the international level as well. She is serving as president for the school’s chapter this year, for which teacher Megan King acts as advisor.

More than 10,000 students attended the international conference, which included competitions and an expo at which students could learn about healthcare college programs and related scholarships and employers in the profession. Guest speakers included Vice Admiral Jerome M. Adams M.D., M.P.H. U.S. Surgeon General of the United States.
