Giggle Shack Smoke Shop Owner Indicted On Drug Charges

WOODSTOCK, GA -- The man accused of selling drugs out of his business has been indicted in connection to the case.
Nadeem Akbar, owner of the Giggle Shack Smoke Shop in Woodstock, was indicted this week by a Cherokee County grand jury on a slew of charges in connection to the February arrest.
Akbar is facing eight counts of selling a Schedule I controlled substance; five counts of selling a Schedule IV controlled substance; two counts of selling a Schedule II controlled substance; one count of trafficking meth; one count of possession of marijuana more than an ounce; possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute; two counts of manufacturing a Schedule I controlled substance; and two counts of possession with the intent to distribute a Schedule I controlled substance.

Another defendant, Abdul Akbar Zahid, has also been indicted on two counts each of manufacturing a Schedule I controlled substance and possession with the intent to distribute a Schedule I controlled substance.
Agents with the Cherokee Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad on Feb. 26 arrested Akbar, who was the owner and manager of the business located at 3333 Trickum Road.

During an investigation lasting several months, agents were able to purchase illegal drugs from Akbar inside the establishment, CMANS previously told Patch.
According to the agency, pills bought by undercover agents were identified by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab as Schedule I, Schedule II and Schedule IV controlled substances.
Agents also purchased from Akbar synthetic marijuana and methamphetamine, CMANS said.
Following the execution of a search warrant at Akbar’s Woodstock area residence, agents seized a variety of pills, meth and roughly 30 pounds of synthetic marijuana, the agency said.
The Cherokee Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad is a joint task force working in Cherokee County to investigate drug related violations.
Participating agencies include the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office, Canton Police Department, Woodstock Police Department, Holly Springs Police Department, Ball Ground Police Department, Cherokee County Marshal’s Office, District Attorney’s Office for the Blue Ridge Judicial Circuit, Georgia Bureau of Investigation and Georgia State Patrol.
