Man Charged With Selling Drugs From Smoke Shop

WOODSTOCK, GA -- A Woodstock resident has been charged with selling a slew of illegal drugs to undercover agents from his business within the city.

Agents with the Cherokee Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad on Feb. 26 arrested 24-year-old Nadeem Akbar of Woodstock at the Giggle Shack Smoke Shop.
CMANS Commander Phil Price said Akbar was the owner and manager of the business, which is located at 3333 Trickum Road.

“It was a one person show,” he added.
During an investigation lasting several months, agents were able to purchase illegal drugs from Akbar inside the establishment, CMANS said Wednesday.
City of Woodstock records show Akbar was issued his business license in December 2015.
According to the agency, pills bought by undercover agents were identified by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab as Schedule I, Schedule II and Schedule IV controlled substances.
Agents also purchased from Akbar synthetic marijuana and methamphetamine, CMANS states.

Following the execution of a search warrant at Akbar’s Woodstock area residence, agents seized a variety of pills, meth and roughly 30 pounds of synthetic marijuana, the agency said.
Akbar remains in custody at the Cherokee Adult Detention Center without bond. He is charged with trafficking meth, possession of a Schedule IV controlled substances, possession of a Schedule I controlled substance with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, manufacture of a Schedule I controlled substance, possession of Schedule I synthetic marijuana, five counts of sale of Scheduled III controlled substances and four counts of sale of a Schedule I controlled substance.
The Cherokee Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad is a joint task force working in Cherokee County to investigate drug related violations.
Participating agencies include the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office, Canton Police Department, Woodstock Police Department, Holly Springs Police Department, Ball Ground Police Department, Cherokee County Marshal’s Office, District Attorney’s Office for the Blue Ridge Judicial Circuit, Georgia Bureau of Investigation and Georgia State Patrol.
