Gold's Geoghagan to Swim for Emmanuel College Lions

Fresh off graduation from Sequoyah High School, Chattahoochee Gold swim club's Logan Geoghagan is bound for Emmanuel College to swim & study. Logan says he picked Emmanuel because it has a very competitive swim team and "because they have the business management degree I am interested in. The campus is a quaint, small town. With a small student body, I can create good relationships with my team, classmates, and faculty. I believe Emmanuel chose me because of my dedication to the sport of swimming, my achievements in the classroom, and my desire to improve myself."

Logan has competed for Woodstock-based Chattahoochee Gold for ten years, "...more than half my life!" How did Gold's coaches help him achieve the goal of swimming in college? "They showed me patience and guidance to develop into a responsible young man. They taught me that hard work doesn’t immediately pay off and about delayed gratification. They also taught the importance of being a good teammate. Over the last 10 years I have had many coaches who have all had a hand in my success as a swimmer. Recently, Coach Mark Schilling has pushed me beyond what I thought I was capable of. " Coach Schilling responds, “I’m so excited that Logan was able to find a great match for him at Emmanuel. He has really just scratched the surface of his potential so I’m excited to see where he goes in college!”

Reflecting on his decade with Chattahoochee Gold, Logan says, "My favorite part of being a Gold swimmer is the friendships I have developed with a diverse group of people who I may not have been in contact with otherwise. My proudest accomplishments are the lifelong friendships I have made with my fellow swimmers and how much we enjoy seeing each other succeed."

Besides Chattahoochee Gold, Logan is thankful for the roles his high school swim team and his family have played in his success, "Being a part of the SHS swim Chiefs gave me a chance to be an ambassador for the sport I love. It allowed me to get friends new to the sport excited about swimming. Coach Hodgins was always excited for me when I would achieve a state cut and for my achievements at the state meets all four years I qualified. My family members have always been my biggest fans. My parents and grandparents have been to every swim meet. My little sister has even been at all my meets since she was a baby. I would like to thank my parents for all the time, money, volunteering, and support they have spent allowing me to pursue my swimming career. I am thankful for the opportunities my family, friends, and coaches have given me to become who I am."

Looking ahead, Logan has clear-cut athletic & academic aspirations at Emmanuel and beyond, "Initially, I would like to be a great teammate to my team in and out of the pool. Eventually, I would like to become conference champion and compete in the NCAA men’s championships. I will study business management with a focus on business finance. I look forward to possibly teaching economics and being a swim coach."

Chattahoochee Gold is one of the first swim clubs in the country to be awarded USA Swimming's coveted Level 4 status. The team trains its swimmers at the Woodstock Aquatic Center, Mountain View Aquatic Center in East Cobb and Cumming Aquatic Center in Forsyth County.
