Man Detonated Homemade Bomb Outside Woodstock Home: Cops
The Cherokee Sheriff's Office said the explosion was felt in nearby homes last month in a Towne Lake neighborhood.

WOODSTOCK, GA — A Woodstock man has been charged with making and setting off a homemade bomb last month in a Towne Lake neighborhood. The incident came upon the Cherokee Sheriff's Office's radar when the agency was tipped off in mid-February about allegations that a male resident was making explosives at a home on Huntcliff Road, which is located off Wyngate Parkway near Bells Ferry Road.
Those tipsters were able to provide the Criminal Investigation Division with video showcasing what they believed was an explosion on Feb. 15 (For more news like this, find your local Patch here. That detonation, which sheriff's office spokesperson Sgt. Marianne Kelley said occurred at night in the suspect's driveway, was "felt in nearby homes."

Working with federal authorities, local detectives executed a search warrant and determined the man, identified as 30-year-old Andrew Davidson, detonated an improvised device at the location, Sgt. Kelley added.
Davidson allegedly had explosive materials, "which when mixed together could make an explosive device, in addition to other materials commonly used for bomb making," the sheriff's office spokesperson said.
