Kick off your weekend with a 5K and end with the soldier's dedication.

1. Soldier Dedication
Where/When: , Monday 10 a.m.
Why Go: The City of Woodstock is having a ceremony for 's family in the City Park. It's a great way to celebrate Memorial Day by honoring Woodstock's latest fallen soldier. There will be bands, ROTC teams, bagpipes and a dedication of Nelson's name to the memorial.

2. Canton Memorial Day Activities
Where/When: , Saturday 11 a.m.
Why Go: The Georgia National Cemetery will hold a ceremony to honor those who have fought for this country. Guest speakers will speak on behalf of the fallen soldiers.

Why Go: The Holly Springs volunteer fire department is sponsoring a 5K and Fun Run to kick off the Memorial Day weekend. Awards and T-shirts will be given away.

Where/When: Canton Theatre, Friday and Saturday 7:30 p.m.; Sunday 3 p.m.
Why Go: The Lewis Carroll classic never gets old and this production is sure to delight young and old with Alice's adventures.
