Mill Creek Student Advances To State Spelling Bee

WOODSTOCK, GA -- Mill Creek Middle School eighth-grader Callie Goins on Saturday won the Georgia Association of Educators (GAE) District 2 Spelling Bee.

Callie will now head to the State Spelling Bee competition, scheduled for Friday, March 18 at Zoo Atlanta. Along with winning the opportunity to advance, Callie also won a $200 prize at the District 2 bee.

She qualified to compete at the District 2 event by placing third at the Cherokee County School District spelling bee. Students in Grades 4-8 are eligible for the competition.

Woodstock Elementary School fifth-grader James Sow came in first in the local competition, followed by Jacob Tate of E.T. Booth Middle School and Callie, respectively.
