Residents can attend the public events, while local businesses are expected to benefit from increased sales tax and hotel revenue as competitors and spectators visit from across Georgia and several states.

• 4 charged after suspected cocaine trafficking operation in Cherokee County (newsbreak.com) — Cherokee County narcotics investigators say a July tip led from a Valley Farm Lane home in Acworth to an alleged cocaine and MDMA trafficking operation, uncovered after an Oct. 1 traffic stop. Four people, including a 39-year-old man from Woodstock, now face multiple drug and distribution charges and remained in custody as of Wednesday.

• Attorney Timothy Michael Orange Surrenders Georgia Law License After Felony Theft Conviction (alabnews.com) — A family attorney who practiced in Woodstock has surrendered his Georgia law license after entering an Alford plea to felony theft by taking, a move the state Supreme Court says is equivalent to disbarment. The court's unanimous decision removes him from the roll of authorized lawyers and follows recommendations from both the State Bar and a special master.
