Police: Medical Condition "Possibly Contributed" to Fatal Accident

Cindy Lucas, 43, was killed Tuesday evening when the SUV she was driving slammed into a tree along Towne Lake Parkway in Woodstock

The woman who passed away Tuesday evening following a single-vehicle accident in Woodstock possibly suffered a medical condition moments before the incident.

That’s according to the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office, who on Wednesday released the identity of the woman behind the wheel of the black Lexus SUV.

Woodstock resident Cindy Lucas, 43, was killed when the vehicle struck a tree along the median on Towne Lake Parkway just east of Running Deer Parkway. Deputies with the sheriff’s office responded to the accident just after 7 p.m. Jan. 20.

“Witnesses reported seeing the vehicle driving erratically prior to the collision,” said Cherokee Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Lt. Jay Baker.

Baker said that while the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office Traffic Enforcement Unit believes “a medical condition of the driver possibly contributed to the collision,” the crash remains under investigation.
