River Ridge Student Recognized For Work Based Learning Success

From CCSD: River Ridge High School senior Ashley Hessman recently was recognized as the Cherokee County School District’s Work-Based Learning Student of the Month!
This is the third year of Work-Based Learning (WBL) program participation for Ashley, who last school year was invited to serve as a guest speaker at CCSD’s annual WBL Advisory Meeting.
“Ashley is the first CCSD student to achieve this extraordinary three-year benchmark in the WBL program -- a notable feat which she adds to her many other accomplishments,” River Ridge HS WBL coordinator Tony Ewers said, adding that Ashley is an excellent student, who also has lettered for four years in volleyball.
Ashley’s WBL program experience has been with Martin Concrete, a concrete contractor that offers solutions with construction projects throughout the Southeast, including work on the new Atlanta Braves’ SunTrust Park and UPS sorting facility.
“Ashley has gained knowledge in construction planning, AutoCAD design, accounting and office management,” Mr. Ewers said. “Her positive attitude and excellent work ethic has earned her a position at Martin Concrete beyond her WBL experience. Her time at the company will prepare her well for her future, as she plans to attend Kennesaw State University and study accounting and business management.”
