UPDATE: Roswell Double Murder Convict Gets Life In Prison

Jeffrey Hazelwood, who was convicted of killing two teens last year, was sentenced today with life in prison without parole.

ATLANTA, GA -- The man accused of killing two teens last year has been found guilty and was sentenced to life in prison on Wednesday. Jeffrey Hazelwood, 20, pleaded guilty to 15 charges against him including murder and aggravated sexual battery.

On Aug. 1, 2016, around 3:00 a.m., Hazelwood followed Natalie Henderson and Carter Davis to the back of a Publix in Roswell, observed them for some time, then approached the vehicle they were in. He opened the back door and was confronted by Davis. Reportedly afraid of Davis, Hazelwood shot him in the head, killing him.

He then ordered Henderson out of the car, forced her to remove her clothes, sexually assaulted her and shot her in the head. He then used Henderson's credit card to buy gasoline, returned to the scene of the crime and stole jumper cables from the car the two teens were using. A delivery driver called the police at about 6:00 a.m. after seeing the bodies.

Hazelwood's mental health has been at the center of this case. A judge yesterday made the decision that Hazelwood was indeed competent to stand trial after a psychologist, who had dealt with Hazelwood, testified.

The Journal-Constitution reported that Hazelwood's sentence is life without parole.
