Teen Dead, Another Injured After Shootout At Woodstock Party

A 14-year-old boy died after he was shot during a Woodstock house party this weekend. The Cherokee Sheriff's Office is seeking information.

WOODSTOCK, GA — Cherokee Sheriff’s Office investigators are seeking information from the public after a 14-year-old boy was killed during a house party in Woodstock over the weekend.

Early Sunday morning, an altercation occurred at West 22 Apartments, at 3615 Cherokee St. NW, in Kennesaw. Part of that altercation was on video, and investigators believe that people in the video ended up at a party in Cherokee County, and that the shooting was related to that fight.

Spokesman Capt. Jay Baker told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that deputies have interviewed witnesses who came forward, but do not have a suspect as of Monday morning.

The shooting happened before 1:30 a.m. Sunday at a house party on Victoria Road. Police found the 14-year-old in the back of an SUV with a gunshot wound to the torso, Baker told the AJC. He later died at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital.

His name is not being released to protect the integrity of the investigation, Baker told the paper.

A 19-year-old man from the party was later taken to Northside Cherokee Hospital with gunshot wounds to his hand and elbow, and he was soon released.

“Anybody who was here maybe doing something wrong, maybe underage drinking, that’s really not our focus. We really want your information so please don’t be afraid to call us,” Baker told Channel 2 from the scene. “Because if you saw anything or have video on your phone, any information will be helpful to us at this point.”

Investigators are seeking information on people in video, and can be reached at 678-493-4080.
