Third Pedestrian Dies From Injuries In Accident That Killed Irma Evacuees

Kathy Deming, 61, was crossing Arnold Mill Road with Kaitlin Hunt and her 3-month-old baby, Riley, on Sept. 9 when they were hit by a car.

WOODSTOCK, GA -- The third and final victim in a pedestrian collision that killed a Hurricane Irma evacuee and her baby has passed away. Kathy Deming, 61, died Tuesday, Sept. 19, nearly two weeks after she was hospitalized following the accident, the Cherokee Sheriff's Office confirmed to Patch.

Kaitlin Hunt, 28, and her 3-month-old baby girl, Riley, were both crossing Arnold Mill Road near Hubbard Road with Deming around 8:16 p.m. Sept. 9 when they were hit by a Jeep Patriot driven by 17-year-old Zoe Reardon of Atlanta.

Riley passed away that evening while Hunt and Deming, a resident of Marietta, were both transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital. Kaitlin Hunt succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday, Sept. 12, Cherokee Sheriff's Office spokesperson Sgt. Marianne Kelley previously told Patch.

Kelley said the accident remains under investigation. The accident occurred shortly after the start of the city of Woodstock's final show in its 2017 Summer Concert Series.
