Woodstock Lions Club Member Honored
Lions International President's Certificate of Appreciation
Woodstock, GA -- The Woodstock Lions Club participated in the Georgia Lions 18-L District Convention Saturday, 3/23, at the Ellijay Lions Club facility. The special guest speaker was Lions International Director Ben Apeland.
According to Frank Hunton, President of the Woodstock Lions Club, International Director Ben Apeland spoke of all the ways Lions are working globally in eight humanitarian causes supported by Lions: Vision, Hunger, Diabetes, Environment, Childhood Cancer, Youth, Disaster, and Humanitarian.
Lions International Director Ben Apeland presented Woodstock Lions Club member Stan Stanly with a Lions International President’s Certificate of Appreciation for Stan’s diligent efforts in bringing Vision Screening to Cherokee County Schools’. Since 2022, Stan has been involved in vision screening Cherokee County students as well as other citizens of Cherokee County, to the tune of over 1,259 people. Lion Stan said “the vision screening in Cherokee County Schools is a collaborative effort with the Canton and Ball Grounds’ Lions Clubs. We are very encouraged by our recent conversations with Dr. Mary Elizabeth Davis, the new Superintendent for Cherokee County Schools. Dr. Davis ensured Lions’ she supports Lions Vision Screening in schools and will be working on future screening dates.”

The Woodstock Lions Club has Twenty-Nine members and meets on the fourth Monday each month at 7:00 pm at The Tavern at Towne Lake. Lions’ clubs are a group of men and women who identify needs within the community and work together to fulfill those needs.
