Woodstock Names New Community Development Director

Brantley Day will officially join the city on Monday, Aug. 17.

The city of Woodstock on Wednesday announced that Brantley Day has accepted an offer to serve as its next community development director.

Day will start in his new role on Monday, Aug. 17, the city said in a press release.

Day was selected from a pool of 26 applicants for the position, which became vacant when Jessica Guinn left to become the assistant city manager in Dunwoody.

“We are certainly excited to have Brantley coming on board with Woodstock,” said City Manager Jeff Moon. “Brantley has a wealth of practical planning experience and his project management experience in his current position will be a welcome addition to our staff.”

Day currently serves as director of operations for the Cumberland Community Improvement District, where he has management and oversight of a portfolio of projects valued at over $215 million dollars, many related to the new Braves stadium.

Prior to his current job, Day served as the community development director for the city of Holly Springs for six years. Day began his career as city planner and later community development director for Riverdale.

Day has received the American Institute for Certified Planners designation from the American Planning Association. AICP certifies professionals in the United States in the field of urban and regional planning and assists planners in the areas of ethics, professional development, planning education, and the standards of planning practice.

Day holds a master of public administration degree and a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Georgia.

Day and his family have been residents of Cherokee County for the past 12 years.
