Department Of Environmental Services To Resume Regular Refuse Services April 1 In Honolulu

HONOLULU – Effective Thursday, April 1, the Department of Environmental Services (ENV) will reinstate its two-loads-per-day limit at its three refuse transfer stations. ENV lifted its two-loads-per-day limits on March 11 until the end of the month at its Kawailoa Transfer Station (62-180 Kawailoa Rd., Haleiwa), Kapaa Transfer Station (100 Kapaa Quarry Access Rd., Kaneohe), and Keehi Transfer Station (606 Middle St., Honolulu) to allow flood-affected households to easily dispose of their items.

ENV has also been “sweeping” heavily impacted flood areas to collect waste from the curb.

Residents in the flood-impacted areas are reminded that, starting Thursday, April 1, they will need to make an appointment for any bulky item waste requiring collection.

Residents may still make multiple daily trips to city transfer stations through March 31.

Hazardous waste, dirt, rocks and soil are not accepted. Commercial waste may be delivered for a fee, and the hauler must have an account with the city.
