Expiring Driver Licenses, State IDs, And Permits Get Extended In Honolulu

HONOLULU – The City and County of Honolulu announced today that expiration dates for driver licenses, state identification cards and instruction permits have been extended to mid-February, bringing relief to thousands of Oahu residents who now have additional time to schedule appointments amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

For 163,001 residents with credentials that were set to expire between March 16, 2020 and the end of the February 2021, the deadline to get them renewed has been pushed back to Feb. 14, 2021. These credentials remain valid through the extended period.

The extension is in accordance with Gov. David Ige’s 17th emergency proclamation. The extension applies to expired driver licenses, state identification cards, instructional permits, and commercial driver licenses.

Renewal services are offered on an appointment-only basis at driver licensing centers across Oahu. Appointments can be scheduled at AlohaQ.org. For lost, stolen, or damaged cards, duplicates can now be requested online and will be mailed to the address on file.
