REVISED: ENV Responds To Sanitary Sewer Overflow In Manoa
A total of 30,850 total gallons spilled and ENV crews were able to recover 28,916 gallons.

HONOLULU – The Department of Environmental Services (ENV) responded last night to a sanitary sewer overflow in Manoa.

Heavy rains caused untreated wastewater to discharge from a manhole at 2702 Lowrey Ave. (address changed from preliminary report of 2710 Ka‘aipu Ave). ENV received a call at 4:48 p.m., arrived at the site at 5:20 p.m. The spill ended at 9:40 p.m.
A total of 30,850 total gallons spilled and ENV crews were able to recover 28,916 gallons. Approximately 1,934 gallons entered a nearby storm drain that discharges into Manoa Stream.

ENV notified the state Department of Health (DOH). Warning signs will be posted today. Water sampling was waived by DOH. The site was cleaned, disinfected, and deodorized.
