Roots clogged the 8-inch pipe pushing an estimated 3,000 gallons of raw wastewater out a manhole. Approximately 2,000 gallons entered a storm drain leading to Nuuanu Stream, which empties into Honolulu Harbor. The remainder of the spill dissipated into the ground with the crew able to recover about 40 gallons.
