1 Airlifted to Hospital After Becoming Trapped in House Fire
Fire crews faced "hoarder-like conditions" and a large volume of smoke and fire as they searched for the resident in the LITH home.

LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL - A person was airlifted to a hospital after becoming trapped inside a house that caught fire Saturday morning in Lake in the Hills.
Authorities were dispatched to the structure fire at 382 Council Trail in Lake in the Hills at 10:48 a.m. on Saturday, according to a news release. Officers from the Lake in the Hills Police Department were first on scene at 10:49 a.m. but were unable to get into the home due to the doors being "blocked from the inside of the home," police said.
Firefighters arrived just minutes later and were able to get into the home but had a hard time finding the person stuck inside the single-story home because of “hoarder-like condition” and the large volume of smoke and fire, according to a new release.

Firefighters located and removed the victim from the home at 11:04 a.m. and was taken to Centegra Hospital in Huntley with life-threatening injuries, according to the news release.
The victim was then airlifted to Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago. The patient’s condition was not immediately known, fire officials said.

No firefighters were injured.
The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District was assited by the Lake in the Hills Police Department, Huntley Fire Protection District, Crystal Lake Fire Department, Barrington Fire Department and Fox River Grove Fire Protection District.
The cause of the fire is currently being investigated with assistance from the Office of the State Fire Marshall.
A damage estimate is not yet available.
