1 Killed in Fiery Crash on West Algonquin Road

One person was killed in a single-vehicle crash on West Algonquin Road early Wednesday, authorities said.

Emergency personnel were called to the crash on West Algonquin Road just west of Berg Street in Algonquin at about 1:39 a.m., according to news release from the Algonquin Police Department.

A Dodge Charger was heading west on Algonquin Road when the vehicle went off the roadway and struck a utility pole, which was located on the north side of the roadway. When authorities arrived, they found the vehicle on fire and fully engulfed in flames.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle died “as a result of the collision and/or vehicle fire,” according to an Algonquin Police Department press release.

The crash remains under investigation by the Algonquin Police Department.

The name of the driver is being withheld at this time, pending positive identification and proper notification of the family.
